What you do:
As the Make-Up Artist for our Factual Entertainment programming you will perform makeup and hairdressing tasks as required. You may required to use creativity to problem solve and to devise new methods and techniques. Your work is generally performed according to accepted CBC or industry standards but assignments will require independent action, judgment and initiative as well as consultation with other program, production or design personnel. Your contact with performers and guests requires discretion in communications and handling.
Key Tasks:
- Breaks down scripts.
Contributes ideas and makes recommendations to overcome problems or achieve desired results.- Consults with the Designer or Supervising Makeup Artist to determine best methods of production and materials to be used.
- In consultation with the Designer or Supervising Makeup Artist, ensures visual unity.
- Selects tools and materials, and ensures that they are available to meet program requirements.
- Provides cost estimates and keeps records of costs.
- Researches makeup material, tries new techniques and evaluates products.
- Performs all or part of the function or duties of an equivalent or lower classification.
Makeup Artist:
- Use artistic skill in the application of makeup, including character makeup and prosthetics.
- Schedule performers for makeup. Prepare, apply and remove all types of performers makeup.
- Alter makeup as required.
- Evaluate design materials to determine if they meet program requirements.
What you bring:
- Community College graduation with study in relevant courses, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 1 year experience working as a makeup artist within the television or film industry.
- Requires good knowledge and understanding of television program production methods including picture, lighting and design craft functions, as well as how these crafts interact with the production clients.
- Willingness and ability to work various shift patterns, overtime and/or weekends.
- Exceptional interpersonal and client service skills.
