The Opportunity:

This could be just the place for your career in design to sky rocket. As a Private Label Designer, you will not only handle the technical follow up required, but mostly you will develop outstanding product in line with each client needs and expectations. 

More specifically;
  • Design product required by customers suggesting fresh new ideas to improve the product in terms of fabric, wash, trims, print, labeling package and graphics;
  • In partnership with vendors research new fabrics, washes and finishes leading to effective product development;
  • Provide clear sketches and styling explanations of the product to the technical design team in timely manner;
  • Follow up with vendors on samples developments;
  • Work closely with Sales Director to understand customer expectations and requirements.
The Talent needed:
  • Well organized, compliance with tight deadlines and sense of urgency, proficient at multi tasking, excellent influencing skills;
  • Excellent understanding of fabrics as well as garment construction, including denim and washes;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and multiple resources;
  • Self motivated individual with excellent communication and written skills mainly in French and English;
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure with time sensitive constraints;
  • Strong problem solving, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Enthusiasm, initiative and result-driven;
  • 5 years of experience in a similar role, within a private label department or company. Experience in denim is essential;
  • Designer Degree from renowned institute;
  • High level of computer literacy (MS Office, Photoshop, Illustrator).

Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to the Executive Director, the duties and responsibilities of the Director of Development include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage all aspects of fundraising and development, including:
  • Solicit and secure cash donations, sponsorships, exchanges and in-kind donations from corporations, foundations, consulates and embassies, and community organizations;
  • Develop and regularly update fund development goals and direction, including new sponsor, foundation, and donor targets and sponsor and donation levels;
  • Maintain current and build new relationships with corporate, foundation, consular, and other public and private sector partners;
  • Diversify and expand private sector funding base;
  • Research new funding possibilities, maintain and boost revenues within Canada and internationally;
  • Manage, update and disseminate the grants timeline;
  • Delegate grant and proposal writing together with the Executive Director;
  • Develop and implement strategic public and private fundraising and wage subsidy initiatives with approval of the Executive Director;
  • Write public and private grant proposals in compliance with established deadlines for each, collect and maintain all data and records required for such grants, in conjunction with the Executive Director;
  • Provide other information as necessary to the Executive Director;
  • Manage and oversee individual donor campaigns;
  • Prepare and disseminate charitable tax receipts as necessary;
  • Liaise with the Charities Directorate;
  • Develop and maintain sponsorship and foundations database;
  • Review and revise annually the individual donor and sponsorship packages;
  • With the involvement of the Executive Director, develop sponsor and fundraising opportunities for aspects of fund development related to programming, including special initiatives and focused projects, especially with regard to community partners;
  • Develop and produce materials for the solicitation of corporate and private sector revenues, development activities and outreach.
Other:
  • Participate in board committees as necessary, including, but not limited to Development Committee;
  • Prepare monthly reports to the board, as necessary;
  • Conduct an annual development evaluation;
  • Participate in job evaluations, as necessary;
  • Other duties and general assistance as required or assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrated track record in fundraising and development;
Grant or proposal writing experience (writing samples will be requested for interview);
Excellent communication, analytical, and motivational skills,
High level of professionalism and ability to interface with senior-level professionals and junior-level colleagues;
University or college degree in areas including: humanities, fundraising, arts administration or commensurate experience in the not-for-profit sector or media industry;
Ability to work independently and manage a number of projects in a deadline-driven environment;
An extensive network of contacts an asset;
Knowledge of the independent arts landscape in Canada an asset;
Knowledge of the landscape of Aboriginal media arts in Canada an asset.

The objective of this process is to provide high resolution digital image (RAW) files of approximately 700 small, 3D artworks to the AFA on compact disks on a weekly basis for archival use.

The incumbent will:
o Have an expertise of photographing fine art in digital format.
o Be shooting high-resolution 20+ MB 300 ppi RAW files with proper lighting and metering techniques.
o Be renaming the RAW files to the piece’s accession number and artist’s last name (provided). Post-photography work shall include creating a similarly named TIFF file (at full resolution) and a similarly named JPEG file at a resolution of 100 ppi with a greatest dimension of 6.5 inches. These shall be provided to the AFA on DVD, CD or hard drive.
o Have capacity to provide additional human resource support as required ensuring project completion within the permitted timeline.
o Have the ability to work onsite at the Capital Arts Building (10708 – 105 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta) during regular AFA business hours, Monday – Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Note: As the vault is alarmed at 4:15 daily, all persons must vacate the vault by that time.
o Supply own equipment including digital cameras, lights, light meters, to meet deliverables.

This work is to be completed by March 30, 2012.

Post photography work (reworking and renaming into tiffs and jpegs) shall continue until and be provided by May 31, 2012.

The contract amount shall not exceed $50,000.

CONTENT/COMMUNITY MANAGER in INDIGENOUS MUSIC

DESCRIPTION:

MBM Digital is developing a digital platform to discover and promote music by Indigenous Canadian

artists. The site will provide a centralized place for aspiring and established Indigenous, First Nations,

Aboriginal, Native, Inuit, and Métis musicians to connect with their fans and the Canadian music

community and industry.

The Content & Community Manager will work with the MBM Digital team to grow our online community of

artists and to produce multimedia content for the site. The Content & Community Manager will be

responsible for writing the site blog, managing social media channels, sourcing audio and site content,

researching and interviewing artists, writing features, editing/uploading audio podcasts, managing/editing

user-generated content and maintaining a national Indigenous music events calendar.

We are looking for a talented, creative, and passionate person who loves all kinds of music and is

inspired to promote Indigenous musicians.

QUALIFICATIONS:

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

• Strong understanding and interest in the lives of Indigenous peoples, communities, music, art,

and social issues

• Proven track record of creativity and passion for music

• Strong research, writing, and curatorial skills

• Experience with blogging and social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Facebook,

Flickr, YouTube, SoundCloud)

• Knowledge of the music blogosphere (HypeMachine, SoundCloud, ReverbNation, BandCamp,

MySpace)

• Good knowledge of the Canadian music industry & digital music marketing

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently, in a fast-paced online environment

• Familiarity with audio editing software (ProTools, Adobe Audition, Audacity, Ableton Live)

• Knowledge of web content management systems (CMS, Drupal)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Writing, managing, updating blog and site content (daily)

• Source Indigenous and Canadian music industry news

• Update/edit site content and user uploads (daily)

• Manage & update social media channels (daily)

• Produce bi-weekly podcast series with host (including editing & uploading audio)

TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT

Rate: $25.00 / hour
