Notice for Submissions - Summerworks Theatre Festival

Production name: Musical Works In Concert

Deadline to submit: 02/01/2011

As part of the 2011 Music Series, SummerWorks will feature two evenings showcasing new pieces by artists working with musical theatre models in a stripped-down concert format. This year's festival will take place from August 4th-14th, 2011.

We're currently seeking applications from artists across the country who work both in conventional and unconventional musical models. Our only requirements are that the work has both live musical and dramatic elements, and has never before been produced. Applications from diverse artistic practices are strongly encouraged to apply (i.e. theatre artists, musicians, dancers, video artists, etc.).

Submissions should be a minimum of forty-five minutes in length. We're accepting full-length works (one or two acts) or a completed first act of an unfinished work.

PROJECT MANAGER, TICKETING
This has been an exciting year for TIFF that has been marked by the opening of TIFF Bell Lightbox, our new home and the world's premiere centre for film. This year continues to produce excitement as new programming is offered in TIFF Bell Lightbox. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who wants to be part of a new era in Toronto's cultural history.

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, this position is responsible for implementing the new ticketing process and system for the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Determine and assess human resources needs in conjunction with Human Resources team and oversee recruitment during project cycle.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Plan, schedule and track project timelines, milestones and deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential obstacles, and devise contingency plans.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the
    project.
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
Contract Dates: Feb 1st 2011 (or earlier depending on availability) for a 6 month period

Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Project Management
  • Experience in leading large projects spanning across departments.
  • Ability to read communication styles of team members, stakeholders and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • PMP designation will be considered an asset.
  • Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends
