Canada's Next Top Model' to hold nationwide casting call

The Canadian Press
TORONTO -- Canadian catwalk enthusiasts, it's time to take your strut to the mall.
Producers of "Canada's Next Top Model" plan to hit five malls across Canada later this month to find leggy hopefuls for the reality TV show.
CTV says the first-ever nationwide open casting tour for the Gemini Award-winning series will start next Friday at the Brentwood Town Centre in Vancouver.
The tour will move on to Edmonton Jan. 18 (West Edmonton Mall), followed by Halifax Jan. 20 (Halifax Shopping Centre), Montreal Jan. 22 (Les Cours Mont-Royal) and Toronto Jan. 23 (Fairview Mall).
Applicants must be female, between the ages of 18 and 23 (as of Jan. 30, 2009), Canadian citizens and/or permanent residents of Canada, and at least five feet, eight inches in height.
Participants must have two pieces of ID and must not be locked into a modelling contract.
Only 10 will make it to the series to live together under one roof while competing for a $100,000 beauty contract.
Producers have already received nearly 4,000 applications from model hopefuls for Season 3 online and via mail.
Cycle 3 of "Canada's Next Top Model" will air on CTV at an undetermined date with beauty and fashion expert Jay Manuel returning as host and co-executive producer.
Rebecca Hardy, a tomboyish meat packing plant worker from Mannheim, Ont., won Season 2 of the series, which is a spinoff of the U.S. version hosted and created by Tyra Banks.
Manuel is also an art director on the American version.
